Listed twice in the Orange County Business Journal’s list of “Fastest Growing Companies in Orange County,” ResortShare helps timeshare owners share their unused time by connecting the millions of prepaid nights found at select timeshare resorts to people searching the leading travel websites such asBooking.com and Priceline. These services are turning the timeshare industry on its head, changing how timeshare owners are perceiving and managing their ownerships.
"We were tired of the media only talking about how timeshares are a bad idea. We knew from experience they can be amazing,” ResortShare co-founder Ryan Beachum explains.
Timeshares, with their full-kitchens and multi-bedroom accommodations, open up a world of possibilities for travelers accustomed to the standard hotel box rooms. When timeshare owners are unable to use all their time, travelers can benefit from access to amazing vacation resort rentals. By bringing these two markets together, ResortShare helps vacation owners get paid for their unused time, while offering travelers a luxury vacation experience at an affordable price. Owners who may have once been frustrated with ongoing maintenance fees attached to timeshares they no longer used, are now able to offset their costs and some are even vacationing for free.
Although an annual family vacation at a premier resort is an amazing product, sometimes life changes and timeshare owners find they can’t vacation the way they used to, leaving them frustrated. ResortShare founders Jay Yadon and Ryan Beachum, both timeshare owners themselves, realized timeshares aren’t a bad product, owners just needed more help in managing their timeshare as life changes. In fact, they found through research that 81% of owners are happy, but that there is an overall lack of trust and knowledge; owners often find themselves grappling for solutions for a product they do not truly understand.
“We understand that a key industry component is knowledge,” Yadon explains. “Educated consumers have the best chance of realizing the value of their ownership and we help them do that.
Aside from education, which is available on the ResortShare site, the company’s mission is to maximize the potential of timeshare ownership, including managing a complicated point system where owners can lose opportunities.
“Optimizing a timeshare takes more than just knowledge, it also requires time,” Yadon adds. “Resort-Share is a place to learn about the many opportunities that timeshares offer and we have mastered how to use this style of ownership to its fullest potential.”
Still, the company has faced an uphill battle… a battle it’s now winning. ResortShare has had to “prove” themselves to owners with no upfront fees and candid communication. With persistence, optimism and proven results, ResortShare is winning them over with resounding success.
“Circumstances change,” Yadon remarks. “Not all owners need the same solution. For the last five years, we have helped owners rent, transfer, or just better understand their ownership—and we’re helping frustrated owners become happy owners once again.
