Heading up the list is The Pearl in Rosemary Beach, a staff favorite here at FTL, and just along the scenic highway 30A, which runs from Destin to Panama City Beach, full of top-notch eateries, great golf, and kitschy antiqueing.
Next, The Alfond Inn in Winter Park, just outside Orlando. The Alfond was recently the site of the James Beard Award nominees' showcase dinner, and just walking distance from picturesque Park Avenue. It's owned by Rollins College, located across the street, and is designed in the same Spanish style adobe and tile architecture of the college. A gorgeous modern art gallery can be found inside.
Third, the Epicurean in Tampa -- a fully food-themed hotel partly owned by the famed Bern's Steakhouse owners and the kitchen is helmed by SideBern's James Beard Award-nominated chef Chad Johnson. The wine store is completely bananas (over 2,000 bottles available), and the art and decor in the lobby and rooms is all culinary (the coffee table in the foyer is built from vintage cookbooks). Did we mention the culinary amphitheatre where guests can take wine tasting and cooking classes? The hand-crafted cocktail rooftop cocktail bar? We love this place.
